The second iteration, expanded and electrifying. gyzelle garcia's residency at The Underline DC will host LQDLG in an unforgettable way.

Lo Que Dijo La Gitana is an immersive production experience that includes a 75-minute performance (interweaving storytelling, poetry and song) and a multimedia exhibition.

Designed for an intergenerational and multi-cultural audience, it is an invitation to an intimate, unique and thought provoking experience. The performance feature original music and poetry by Gyzelle Garcia accompanied by a live band; Khalil Abdul-Wakeel on drums, Cameron Luchie on guitar, Beckett Milzan on bass and Shayne Richmond on keys.

The exhibition features a series of images shot by artist and photographer Von Lee, as well as a 7-minute short film by Cinematographer Malcolm Moore. All of the pieces come together to nourish the thread that is Lo Que Dijo La Gitana.

While the direct translation is "What the Gypsy Said", the connotation is What did the oracle say? The priestess? The medicine woman? It is an ode to the sacred wisdom women across different walks of faith, across space and time have shared with the artist and not just how they have informed her artistic life and work, but her healing journey as well. Ideally, folk leave impacted to further share or preserve their own narrative, as well as those of whomever helped shape them as people.

Guests will have the opportunity to experience the exhibition before and after the performance, in addition to a closing reception with food history offerings by the artists family.
